I’m not very good at expressing my feelings about my past in words, that’s why I draw these comics. I kinda hoped through portraying and replaying the scenes again and being able to take a look at them I can figure out what my bias or feelings were about the situation.

So far its been pretty great but in terms of the beatings, I don’t really know. That’s why Brad and I are friends, he wasn’t trying to make me realize my feelings about those events, but we still shared the same understanding.

It was relaxing.

I used to talk about it a lot in high school but people ended up complaining and yelling at me to shut up. I didn’t really get why because I view them the same way one views, say, a road trip gone bad with your friends. It happened and it passed.

As always. This is just me and Brad, other people may feel differently. And now you know why Brad’s always around my family for the holidays.

@roxjey: Well, to be honest, I don't know many people who have been through major events that don't move on.

The ones that generally don't tend to go through social things.

Haha, would you? You don't know how poor my writing is yet, haha.

I just thought it was unfair considering it wasn't a writing class.

I'm kind of confused though...

When I find out something like that, like my friend was abused or something, my initial reaction is pity. Is that bad then? :/

I really empathize with what Brad says in the comic about the looks of pity. When I was young, I had no friends other than my siblings. When I told people this when I was a bit older, having gained some social ability, they'd give me those same looks. I never got them either because for me I was just stating a fact. Not that my situation was worse than his or yours or anything.

I don't think you're horrible, haha.
but I do think that doing things like that to a kid is horrible. I guess growing up in such a safe enviroment makes react more to things like this.

your sentence structures actually seem rather well-written in your descriptions and wherever else, so i can't imagine that your writings would be too bad. i guess it's just the matter of detailing and whatnot?

@chocophobia: Hm, I can't comment for everyone. But in this case specifically, having moved on, the last thing you want is pity, you don't want to think of it as a sad event anymore you don't want others to think it is too.

However if your friend is still sad about it, I guess I don't see a problem with it? Though pity tends to carry some negative connotations.

I dunno, just use your best judgement.

@guest: Is it? Haha, I dunno. The main problem he had was with the story, he said he didn't understand or think anyone would act like my stepmom.

I don't really care but it made me react negatively to whenever someone reviews a movie or a story by saying, "It just doesn't seem realistic."

Random comment. For some reason I think Brad has red-ish hair. Correct me if I'm wrong, all characters whose hair isn't colored in I assume their hair is either brown or red.

You should have complained about your grade on grounds about that not being a writing class and that there are crappy adults out there that do that kind of stuff? Cause just because a person is responsible for a child doesn't mean that person is good(what makes me feel sad about reading the comics is realising that there are more people like that then I thought as so many are in your life).
