I think I’ll just make the joke ones strip format.

So. This would explain why the family always looked at me critically whenever they ask if I have a girlfriend at the moment and after I said no… and why they so often tell me about other members of the family my age getting married and having kids.

Usually when people asked me if I was gay, I didn’t really mind. But for some reason in terms of family rumors, it drives me crazy. (I think also the association with Brad made me react the way I did, haha.)

Jesus. Christ

And Miriam likes to read gay stories, right? And if it’s really good she’ll want to show everyone, including our mother. Though how that makes her gay I don’t really know myself. Do they think she wants to be a gay male? Or a lesbian, somehow?

Outside of this, a lot of things happening this month. Jenny’s wedding, Tien graduating, Connor getting ready for his trip to Guatemala.

Maybe I should just get a girlfriend. Like a beard, not ‘cause I’m gay, just ‘cause I’m asexual and explaining the concept has had no effect.

ahaha when my mother found out I was a fujoshi - well she only knows that I kinda ship male characters and find them cute - she tought that I was going to turn into a lesbian too! and I was like 0_0 WHAT. how does that even make sense?? so yeah...close minded people have strange ideas!

daviddoesntgetit May 10th, 2012, 3:29 pm

@stormhunter: Ah, try as I might, I don't get it either. Maybe they think you can't like homosexuals unless you are one?

lil_shiro May 10th, 2012, 4:56 pm

Everyone thinks I'm guy because I like drawing male anatomy. I mean it's not like I masturbate to it. It's just easy and it helps me in my skills. (Like I have any. XD ) And maybe the fact that 90% of my friends are female and I gossip a lot. But hey like I say sometimes. "I am the gayest straight man you will ever meet."

hyeonmu May 10th, 2012, 8:46 pm

Have you had a confidante before? I find it's a positive. But eh... I'm not you (obviously).

maybe you just need to put up a good front? haha a girl friend that always comes with to family events and such.
with all that gossip they must see your flat as a gay collective or something? maybe you should just put up some rainbow flags and call it a day ;D

Ah~ so this happens in lots of families?
My brother and I both are single... they always try to push us to find someone.
My grandfather thought my brother's roommate was his boyfriend at one point.. I mean.. COME ON! What is wrong with not being involved with anyone right?

haha well.. maybe they all just think it makes you happy or something like that.
I can not think of other reasons.

I've always wondered what was so important about being in relationships. Up until high school I'd considered myself asexual, but as I got older and learned more terms and information, I realized it wasn't the case.

It's funny to think of yourself as one thing, and then find out more information and go "oh.. I guess not, then." and then the search continues!

for the record, I'm pansexual, but I still have that incredibly low sex-drive which led me to believe I was asexual.

i feel bad about laughing so hard at this. it's like something out of a sitcom.

y'know, if sitcoms were funny.

Danny-kins May 16th, 2012, 2:12 pm

That is pretty strange! I mean, it's just like trying to argue that because someone reads/watches heterosexual romance that they're automatically straight. People need to realize that you can't fit everyone in the same boxes, the world is just too diverse for that.

daviddoesntgetit May 19th, 2012, 7:54 pm

@lil_shiro: Haha, in the same vein we are excused of doing some things because we are artists.

Though that's rather dumb, how do they expect you get better otherwise?

@hyeonmu: A confidante? You mean someone to talk to? Sure, that's Brad. Unless you mean a female specifically? Then I dunno. I talk to Miriam about most things.

@roxjey: Oh, hey! You're from Guatemala? That's neat! I'll tell Connor to keep an eye out, haha.

@jonasfx: Y'know what? I didn't think about that. If they think Miriam and I are gay then they probably do think the entire apartment is gay. Damn.

Hahahaha. Connor recommended the same thing.

@MilkChii: Haha, I don't deny that happens a lot in families, I see it happen a lot in asexual how just disinterest means they think you're gay.

Hahahaha. Just a roommate? That's odd.

@Minteh: I see, I see. I think a lot of the importance of a relationship is just loneliness, right? Especially in America where it's pretty customary to move away from family, at that point your companion would be your partner.

Even if you have friends, it's not that common to live with them either.

But, haha. The search for identity is pretty interesting. Just an interesting compulsion, I think.

@mikemacdee: Haha. I enjoy some sitcoms. Well, workplace ones mostly.

@Danny-kins: Haha, yeah. Well. The members of my family aren't exactly young so I tend to just let it slide.

Well, then again. Jenny.

But I agree. I guess you just assume what is true of most people, though it doesn't mean you shouldn't allow for other possibilities.

Such and Such November 19th, 2012, 8:59 pm

If getting a girlfriend will stop your family from assuming you're gay, go for it. But just to warn you, you should probably find someone who is willing to compromise a mutal relationship, and understand if you don't actually have feelings for her. If you don't, she might take you seriously.
