(Miriam sometimes has fun thinking up these titles for me.)

I like that the kids thought my DS was new just because it was so old they had never even heard of it.

Miriam made a point of noting how Gameboy is part of our vernacular for handheld consoles by Nintendo that's lost on the kids. DS... that's Dual-Screen, right?

I wonder. Am I the definition of a man child? Most of Bernard's friends have started to have a family or have had one. Granted Bernard doesn't have kids but he does have a wife. I feel like I often miss out on key aspects of life that denotes you growing up. Sex being one of them, I suppose, haha.

@beldon123: Yeah, I find the strategy of having a healer at that point really just makes the game about economy of management through MP or whatever. I'd really prefer it if strategy was elsewhere more complicated but man, it's such a stable, haha.

Haha, that is also true.

@hyeonmu: Haha, again. Thank you for the comfort, it's not like I don't realize that but I just mean regardless of how I feel about it, society still has ideas of coming of age, right? Even if sex is just sex it kind of isn't just sex. Think about it, movies about losing your virginity, etc. there's a certain shared understanding.

It's not a big deal, I'm not lamenting it or anything, it's just something to consider on the grander scheme of things. When I'm with family or friends, no one bats an eye, but to tell it to a stranger still garners shock.

Haha, what? Video games aren't just for younger people. I had video games growing up too.

If you are a man child, am I a child man? I'm 15 and hang out with people in their 20's? =3=

daviddoesntgetit October 18th, 2012, 10:45 pm

@lil_shiro: When you say child man I imagine a five year old with a full, rich beard. Looking quite pleased with himself.

beldon123 October 18th, 2012, 10:57 pm

I kinda wish I could play video games with you now, not sure why though. haha

What game were you guys playing in the end?

Quinis October 18th, 2012, 11:36 pm

I know that feeling. My DS is the DS "phat" too. Incidentally, I love that name; DS "phat", never heard it before though. Did someone you know come up with it?

Mavi (Guest) October 19th, 2012, 12:40 am

Your personality sort of reminds me of my godfather, David! And that's not a bad thing at all!!! >W< That would just make you easier to talk and confide to, if you ever my godfather/uncle! =^w^=
I don't think you should feel uncomfortable with liking video games! They're no worse or better than watching TV or some other media! And it's WAY better than going out drinking or gambling constantly. You should see some of my mom's relatives! They're just GROSS! =A=; HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! You have a roof over your head, a job, all the while taking care of two other siblings. That doesn't sound immature at all! That sounds SUPER HARD TO DO!!!! >A</

@daviddoesntgetit: Were you playing a Tales game? Like Tales of Graces for the PS3? I love those games. God, they're so addicting. You should try to get Deathspank. It's a funny little game. So crude though.

Elivier (Guest) October 19th, 2012, 9:12 pm

Ha ha! Nah, it just means that you can get along with just about anybody! And just because you play games doesn't mean you're less grown up than the rest of your family. I'm 21, single and play crap loads of video games. I also moved out before my brother, who is two years older than me, have a steady job, and talk about boring things like politics and the weather.

Growing up is different for everybody I think. Besides, you can talk about things the characters did in your games like you actually saw them and a lot of the time people don't catch on until you mention something crazy like magic. It's awesome.

I kinda want to know what game you were playing there.

daviddoesntgetit October 20th, 2012, 4:12 pm

@beldon123: Haha. I don't know why either but that's pretty flattering.

Ah, I think it was Tales of Vesperia at the time? Or Abyss. Sometimes when they find out we have to head to Bernard's, they bring a console to play. Haha.

Ah, fuck. I hate being the healer.

@Quinis: Ah, I didn't come up with "phat". It's just a name I saw floating around online so we just all used it, haha. The three of us have one so we just use that term but apparently Patricia is gonna give me her old iXL but I might just give it to Miriam, haha.

Though teasing her with it would be really fun.

@Mavi: Oh, I remind you of your godfather? I hope he's a cool guy then, haha.

Ah, it's ok, you're always so sweet, trying to comfort me. Haha. I know video games are completely legitimate medium, it's just I find it impossible to convince my family then so that's really about the only time it feels awkward, haha.

Haha, aw, you're always too nice to me, haha.

@yaoi4evandnevayuri: Holy shit, how did you guess?

Man, I hated Tales of Graces. That game was incredibly annoying and the battle system was boring as fuck, I thought. It was just overly complicated without making the battle system more interesting. I still think Abyss had my favorite with Vesperia being a close second.

I've seen Deathspank. I also thought that game was incredibly annoying, haha. The jokes were just lazy and arduous but otherwise the game itself seemed ok. When it comes to funny games I prefer McPixel or Borderlands. It's all juvenile but clever, I think.

Just with Deathspank, really? Thong jokes? Jesus. Just, oh. He wears a thong, isn't that funny?

No, not really.

@elivier: Haha, so not a man child but I can get along with anybody? I like that better, haha.

Ah, it's not that I don't know that, it's that my family thinks that, hahaha. But thank you anyways. No matter how much I try to convince them the legitimacy of video games as a medium, they will forever think I'm the oldest kid who'd rather play with the 8 year olds, which is true, haha.

But yeah, thanks for the support, haha.

Ah, we were playing a Tales game. This was a while ago so I can't remember. Was it Abyss or Vesperia? It might actually be Graces. One of those, haha.

beldon123 October 20th, 2012, 9:09 pm

@daviddoesntgetit: haha I hate being the Healer too. I tend to go for Black Mage/Red Mage status in RPGs. Then again, no one can fuck with you when you're the White Mage, because they're doomed without you. >:D

hyeonmu October 21st, 2012, 11:57 pm

Haha; I think I can understand. Though I don't even have a DS... *plays Gameboy games on the Gameboy Color*

You don't come across as a man child; when I think of man child I think of someone who is ridiculously immature. Sex is just sex... right? I mean, I can understand how some people can see it as a "coming-of-age" thing because once you have it you you're no longer a virgin...

You seem like a man who has hobbies that coincide with people of younger generations. Which is pretty cool.

I miss my old, fat DS! I thought the controls on that one were the best. :X
I have a DSlite now. I don't wanna go newer as they just get less battery time. if I wanna play a gba game I just vrin up the old gba and I won't have to worry about loading in a good while n__n

There are a lot of key components that you can miss out in your life, but that's what makes you you. So, do you regret some things that could have been though?
