Like a good Asian I couldn't really refuse. Haha. That's ok, I enjoy it a lot because of the people. I'm back in Richmond now, by the way, and we struck a deal where I only had to go up twice a month which we already do for family events.

But yeah. That edit joke is now my favorite joke. Also, the food was great! There was a whole roast pork, two types of sticky rice, the purple and orange kind. A huge thing of fried rice. This uh... fricking. It's as sticky as mochi but it's savory and inside was meat and shrimp and there was a ton of New Years cake.

This is one type that we fry up in a pan.

Here's savory banh tet:

And banana banh tet:

I love the holidays, haha. Speaking of food, my favorite cuisine is middle vietnam, actually. So if you go into google and type bánh huế, you'll see a lot of my favorite dishes.

Looks like they liked your work. Perhaps this is the start of something big? :D

Dr. Scottie February 5th, 2013, 9:46 am

Ahhh. My family like cooking those and I never knew what they were called because they always said it in Cambodian. ;;

Ahaha, and I never paid attention enough to remember what they were called. They were just really good and I looked forward to eating them at parties and new years.

@daviddoesntgetit: ah~ I think it is awesome Brad just came over. Good friend indeed. haha

And...that food! <3

I wish I could just get some by touching the screen.

Congrats on new job.

You asked me about what I am learning from your comic... well, those yummy looking foods are one of those things.

Oh and lately showing up in a couples event with Brad ain't helping your cause. *evil grin*

I know it's late, but I wanted to say congratulations on getting the new job, David! Regardless of whether you decide to stick with the news company or not, I'm sure everyone on here is happy for your success and knows you deserve it! *Fist pumps*

Ahahaha, I enjoyed your lil' essay about Vietnamese food. I'm sorry to say this, but despite having a similar culture to yours, I've never gotten to experience the tastiness that is banh tet! I wonder if anyone in my family knows of it, much less how to make it?
The photographs of the food look so tasty. I suddenly feel like I got deprived of something very beautiful and tasty in life. |D

Heh. Seems like you're really having a good time David. Socializing isn't that bad around people you like, right?

Everyone at the party seems pretty keen on you, your coworkers, your boss, even Brad! Was there ever a time when you and Brad had a big, blow-out fight? You two seem like great friends, but I could see an argument between you guys occasionally.

@AdmiralBetas: I don't want the non-paying job to be something big. Haha.

@Dr.Scottie: Eh? Cooking what?

Haha. I also look forward to eating on the holidays.

@MilkChii: YEAH. That sounds amazing. I wish everything in the world delivered. You friend's mom's pie looks delicious? Get it delivered.

@hyeonmu: Hahaha. Why is everyone congratulating me? I got a second job I didn't ask for nor do I really have the time for, haha.

Haha, I apologize for that.

@Knightly: Haha, again, I don't want to be congratulated on a stupid decision.

Haha. I'm glad I'm teaching you the only thing you need to know about Vietnamese culture. Food.

Yeah, I always forget that people don't invite their friends to these events. I just think of Brad as like a book or a laptop, something to entertain me while I'm with people I don't know so I keep inviting him. Haha.

@Odd1Out: Man. Why do you people think having two jobs is fun? Hahahaha.

Well, I mean. Similar culture doesn't meant the same culture, I'm not surprised you don't get to eat it, haha. It's very specific to Vietnam. I think. I know nothing about other cultures.

@bebop: That's exactly right. As long as I like the people, socializing is ok.

I drew that one comic a while back about when Brad and I fought, it was uh... This one.

Haha, it's more than on occasion. We fight a lot. He gets mad at me when I don't like his friends, now that I think about it it's the only time he gets mad at me. I get mad at him when he pisses me off, which is often, haha.
