Hey, I know I said I was going to update at the beach, but it turns out the internet got fucked up the ass. So here's a big update instead.

A lot of things happened.

Oh, right. So yeah, August is happening. I'm going to be trying to update as often as I can so I'm going to be drawing as many pages as I can to fill the days that I'm gone.

I'll be doing a different style and as a result I think telling this story is going to take longer than I thought. So I hope nothing interesting happens in my life until it's done. Haha.

Ah. I'm a little worried. Miriam was excited about it, though. And now she's read the comic in full. Hm.

I guess we'll see what happens.

I would love to go to the ocean... It'd be simply marvelous... *puts on bucket list*

Have fun in August!

It's great to see that the beach was a blast. All I have are rocky ones. With lots of rotting fish carcasses because fishermen like to feed the eagles and bears.

... must be nice... *grumblegrumble*

I've been to the ocean a few times... I'm definitely not a beach person. I have an irrational fear of open space, like, if I'm in deep water (ocean) or high up (heights/space). I also don't like visiting my dad's family in North Dakota only because it's so freakin FLAT there. Too much space. Needs like 200 million more acres of forests and mountains and stuff.

I really like this page. I laughed, like, a lot, okay. Animal Crossing "leave me alone," white privilege, "could you be more Catholic," dress code, your dad, "POLLUTANTS DESTROYING THE ECOSYSTEM" ahhhhh, good times.

I went to the beach about a week ago, with a lot of people I'm going to miss.
There's something about going to the beach. It's relaxing, there's not as much pressure to stick to a schedule, at least for me.

oh yeah, your father learned how to swim when he was stuck in the ocean for a while. But the beach is nice, it's just sometimes the sand is too hot and it burns your feet, which sucks if you didn't bring some sandels (which always happens with me)

Miriam has read the whole comic now?! I've been re-reading, would it be too much to ask what she thought? I've never known how much you shared with her and Connor directly.

Question for Brad (for it been bugging me for awhile in a curious way) what makes David's dad so cute or attractive?

Did Conor enjoy the nature at the beach at all for, he seemed more preoccupied with what was slowly destroying it?

How did the swimimg lessons go for the two you and Bernard? Was Brad a good teacher?

Did you eat your favorite food there?! Please name the name them if, there are other one we do not know about!

@Crystaldragon: Wow, you haven't been to the ocean yet? Well, I highly recommend it. It's a thing to behold. Well, secluded, it's a beautiful thing, haha.

@hyeonmu: Hey, thanks! I did have fun in August.

Ah, rocky beaches suck in that I keep stubbing my toes on them. Large rocks or pebbles? Haha, fish carcasses, that is disgusting.

Haha, it IS nice. I'm sorry that you live in Alaska, haha.

@Dumah: Ah, sorry to hear about that fear thing, that must makes it tough.

Wow, yeah. You visited North Dakota? That sounds like one of the worst possible places for you to be with that fear, haha. I've always wanted to visit North Dakota because of how flat it is though, haha.

Haha, glad you enjoyed the comic.

@cstar: You just need the right people for vacation so you don't have to stick to our schedule. Our dad somehow manages to be the extremities on both ends. He's a guy with no schedule but everyone has to wake when he wakes up, etc.

In any case, glad to hear you had fun at the beach! You like to swim?

@Zero_Artist: Hey, yeah! You remembered something about our dad, haha.

Man. If there's one thing I hate the most about the beach, it's the fucking sand. That gets into everything.

Haha. Yeah, as cumbersome as sandals are, much better than scorching your feet.

@Widget30: Hmm. I don't really like to share anything with Connor and Miriam. Not that I don't care for them but I just haven't found much of a reason to tell them anything about me. Here's Miriam.

Miriam: Yo, yo, yo! What I thought, eh? Just, hm.

It's a little strange. You've known someone your whole life and you find out all these things about them. It was kind of awkward, because it is a diary comic and I thought I shouldn't know some of the things I learned but I admit, I was mostly preoccupied with how brother was portraying me!

I don't know. It was odd but I feel like I learned a lot. Also, brother's a pretty good writer! IT'S FRUSTRATING.

I don't know. I feel like I understand parts of brother I didn't before. It feels nice. Then I remember times where I was accidentally insensitive and feel guilty! Hahahaha.

@Sunset*: Brad: That's easy. He's all grumpy but then he has his sweet moments. Who doesn't love that? The exterior is all hard and angry but on the inside, and when you look, he's just an incredibly nice man.

David: Ugh.

Connor: I was too busy being angry.

The swimming lesson didn't get very far, haha. I ended up giving up and just wanted to go relax. Bernard actually ended up learning a couple strokes and he's pretty happy about it. I guess that means Brad's a good teacher. I ditched lessons too quickly to know for myself, haha.

God, I ate so much fucking food and that was a while ago, I can't say I remember any of them, haha. We had banh canh tom cua, banh xeo, those were great, just a lot of crab, beef stuff... Shit. I really can't remember.

Fuck, I'm hungry.

@Ju: Haha. Our dad's a class all of his own.

@Titi: Yeah, I'm glad Brad's god a place to be for the holidays.

Connor: Dude, thanks! We gotta keep on fighting! It's too important a matter to ever stop!

@roxjey: Haha, sorry, sorry. I'm back now.

Dumah September 5th, 2013, 4:17 pm

@daviddoesntgetit: It's not TERROR, fear, more like....intense dislike. I did my best to enjoy the ocean when I went, but I couldn't bring myself to put my head under the water or go so far out that my feet couldn't touch the bottom. And I've been to North Dakota tons of times growing up, and I've enjoyed it immensely (except the friggin' millions and millions of mosquitoes), especially when my uncles let me drive their big ATV and taught me how to shoot a BB gun! And on one of the trips I got left behind at my uncle's house because I had a migraine, and I got bored, so I just drew random things the entire day. If I hadn't gotten that solid practice in, I most likely wouldn't have become the disciplined artist I am now. So I guess I shouldn't say I DON'T like visiting ND, because I do/did... I haven't been able to visit in several years because of work :(

[R]

daviddoesntgetit September 5th, 2013, 4:35 pm

@Dumah: Oh, I see.

Haha, you never go under the water, huh? I don't like it much, either. I nearly drowned once as a kid and that was enough for me, haha.

Wow, that sounds like a ton of fun. Sorry you haven't been able to go. Miriam really wants to go to visit the bison, they're her favorite animal. Haha.

God. I fucking hate mosquitoes. Take my blood, fine, but why do you have to make it itch? Just so unnecessary.

[R]

Dumah September 5th, 2013, 5:22 pm

@daviddoesntgetit: I nearly drowned once, too, haha-- I haven't even been in a pool this summer yet, and I live in Arizona with 100+ degree heat! It was 110 today... I can't wait for the week of fall... cuz that's really all we get, haha. Then winter comes and it's fucking cold.

I KNOW!! Seriously, fuck mosquitoes. I always end up scratching until I bleed, so my dad always sprayed me all over with that gross OFF! bug spray. Ugh. I hate that stuff. Not quite sticky, not quite dry, just.... ick.

[R]

daviddoesntgetit September 15th, 2013, 8:04 pm

@Dumah: Jesus. I can't imagine living in that temperature. I don't know how hot it got in Vietnam but I don't think anywhere near 110.

Haha. Bug spray is pretty gross but a small price to pay to relieve yourself of a week of scars where you scratched yourself.
