I asked Brad since he's bi, it's like a two for one deal when it comes to parenting, right? He replied that he was going to punch me.

Anyways, after reading some stuff and talking to a lot of you guys, I want to get as far away from my shame-filled Catholic upbringing as I could.

Also, a reader mentioned that they could tell me about Malaysian cuisine, AND THEY SHOULD. The only thing I know about Malaysian cuisine is laksa and I just know I want to try all the types.

Really, any southeast Asian person, please tell me about the food of your country so I know what to eat when I get over there. I know Vietnam's food pretty well as well as Filipino but it couldn't hurt to know more.

Goddammit. I haven't stopped thinking about laksa for the past week. Why aren't there more Malaysian immigrants in the US so I can go eat at their restaurants?

I'm really hungry right now.

I understand your worries. I was hit by my mother growing up, to the point of having some scars, was mentally abused, and I'm always worried...

What if I have kids? I have anger problems and bad impulse control, but I want to do better for them, but what if I'm the same monster my mom was to me?

So if I do have kids, I'll probably go to therapy and stuff, and hope I have a good partner who can tell me, hey, what are you doing, and help provide a safe and loving environment-which I'm sure Brad will help you with.

Would you be interested in Hmong food? I could probably ask a Hmong friend for a good meal or something they suggest.

@Reealt: Yeah... glad to know someone else understands. Well, I guess I'll assure you in a way I assure myself.

Statistics do show people abused aren't more likely to abuse their kids. It's not something you can predict until you're in the situation though, I suppose.

I was talking to Connor about it, and he mentioned how villains in movies and stories these days seem to have gone through some traumatic shit as a kid which problematically sets a precedence that those who have been abused are more likely or excused to be terrible people just because of their childhood.

I think a lot of it has to do with remembering that just because we went through some dumb ass crap as a kid, doesn't mean we're entitled to be terrible ourselves. As long as your morals are good, try to to think of it this way. With your bad temper, does it mean you still go around beating up people in your daily lives that piss you off?

Yeah. I'm sure Brad's gonna be good for that, haha. He already does it all the time when we're at a party and I'm not happy.

Whoh, really? Hmong? Hey, I always wanted to ask, how are the Hmong doing? I know they exist but I've always wondered if Vietnamese people did terrible things to them like Americans did to Native Americans.

But yes, tell me about Hmong food because that sounds amazing.

Well, anyways, I wish you luck when you do have kids. I'm sure you'll be fine 'cause you've seemed like a cool person in the basic exchange I've had with you, haha. So I guess I don't know but, y'know, I believe in you.

@roxjey: Haha. I was asking since I planned on doing a tour of southeast Asia but y'know what? That sounds amazing as well since I really, really love seafood.

So yeah, tell me about it!

@daviddoesntgetit: I was also physically and mentally abused as a child growing up. But my mom had 'problems'. I'm not taking up for her. But I think that sometimes a whupping goes a long way. Especially if the children are brats... Like my cousins. >.>' If anything a slap on the butt or two should be enough to get the point across.

daviddoesntgetit August 19th, 2014, 6:00 am

@yaoi4evandnevayuri: I hate to say it but I agree with you. Some kids are just so goddamned out of control and it's not like reasoning is going to work with them.

I suppose a couple slaps on the butt isn't the worst.

I always get nervous around bratty kids, sigh.
