Edit -- Reupload 'cause I uploaded the wrong comic last night. I was extremely tired.

One of the reasons we very quickly got Miriam her own car was due to the number of times she had to work late and would come home crying after some guy on the bus would sit next to her and try to touch her leg in some way. One guy got off at her stop and then proceeded to try to talk to her after taking the empty seat next to Miriam on an empty bus and then spending the entire ride rubbing his leg against hers.

We had one female family member who is still being stalked to this day and has to constantly get restraining orders. She's been married for years now and still has to deal with this crap. I had one female friend had some dude just buy a ticket from across the country and arrived at her doorstep unannounced despite her expressing several times her lack of interest in him.

It pisses the fucking crap out of me. I feel like expressing some thoughts which I shouldn't have to say but, from these stories, apparently need to be said again and again.

No fucking means no. Angela was great, she backed off immediately and was very careful to make sure I was comfortable before doing anything because I told her I wasn't comfortable with certain things, like close proximity. That's all I had to do, that's all anyone should have to do.

Also, stop telling people what to do, everyone has their own way of dealing with problems. Sometimes they don't like getting into arguments because the attention is more unwarranted than just dealing with it.

There's a huge cultural difference at play sometimes, even if there wasn't, you're just going to have to accept the fucking fact that sometimes people who don't want to constantly express their discontent are not fucking repressed. Sometimes the idea of drama is more anxiety inducing than just dealing with it and you have to fucking respect that fucking shit.

You don't know what the person is going through, you don't know what types of actions would trigger more anxiety in them or whether or not they're ok with just dealing with things because guess what, you don't always have the right answer. Telling me fucking shit about how I should have done something about my stepmom when I was a kid, you can fuck right off.

Penis guy should not have pressured me into touching his dick, simple as that. Fucking asshole on bus should not have rubbed Miriam's leg with his, simple as that.

Fucking bullshit.

oh my god!
Miriam I am really sorry for you, this should not be happening he is harasing you even when you told him to stop a lot of times!
David, this is so annoying i hate that in our society it is ok that the male should have this kind of behaivour!
Like. Listen: now i have a new patient who lives kind of far away from where i live so their daughters (the ones that contacted me) take turns to take a motorcycle and take me to him and drop me back home. A lot of times and even today i had to hear man on the street throwin disgustin kisses at the girl (who might be around the age of 17) who was driving. Is not okay, is that what is like to be a woman? be harrassed every fucking day? it annoys me so much that some men are like that. i mean i try to sit at the far end of the motorcycle seat just because 1 i feel like i should respect a young girl and 2 i dont like that much proximity with strangers

man i wrote so much but it just that today i was thinking the same thing...
tell Miriam to keep being strong, and she should warn him that if that happens again she will report him. She should... she shouldnt be goin trough here.
umm...Keep strong miriam and punch them in the balls if necessary!

This is totally out of context but... Please be careful young ladies (and even young men.) There's a rise in people being sold into sex slavery in the U.S. and it's being done right under your noses. You can't be sure who's doing it, it can even be your closest friend who's involved. So, just my two cents on making enemies in this world. You never know how far they'll go.

Man, that makes me angry, and I hope Miriam is okay. It really sucks that there's a history of it happening to women in your family, no one should have to deal with it. No definitely means no.

These guys do what they think is a big romantic gesture, like flying across the country or sending a million love notes, but it is really just unwanted creepiness.

@roxjey: Here's Miriam:

Aw, thanks, you're so sweet. But yeah, what happens to your patient's daughter? Not uncommon. It doesn't happen to me every day but it happens to me enough. My mom and I are out for a walk to get groceries and, more often than not, a passing car will wolf whistle at us and yes. I fucking hate it. It's not a fucking compliment, I'm not asking for it, I'm just out getting fucking groceries.

I don't think people realize it's as simple as realizing what the other person wants. Intent doesn't fucking matter if the recipient is unwilling.

As much as I would like to report him, having to keep working with the guy makes it a difficult choice to make. I'm going to quit soon anyways so I'll just deal with it.

David: No.

@yaoi4evandnevayuri: I'd like to add to this that a lot of it involves underage children.

Here's the thing, I remember telling various adults in my life when out stepmom was beating us, but they immediately disbelieved us when they talked to our stepmom 'cause of course she wasn't gonna admit it and say we were just exaggerating and lying.

If a child comes to you for help, please do more investigating than just talking to the parents.

@Reealt: Yeah, a surprising number of women in our family have had to deal with awful men. Miriam's fine now but it still happens every now and again.

@cstar: Yeah, as Miriam said, it all boils down to whether or not the recipient wants it. It's romantic if you're both on board but if the person is not? It's creepy, simple as that.

If a person has said they have no interest, fucking stop.

@SOABS: Haha, that is a phrase often uttered by Connor and his friends.

Bahh poor Miriam! I'm all for her punching that douche in the balls.

It makes me really nervous to walk down streets/go places by myself hearing stories like this, I hope douchey-coworker gets the hint and lays the fuck off.
